For decades, Nonwovens Industry has included a directory of manufacturers with its annual reports on each of the three major hygiene categories—baby diapers, adult incontinence and feminine hygiene. Since these directories were being published before I took over as editor, I had never really thought about their role in our magazine. In fact, I kind of thought of them as extraneous pages, containing information many of our readers already knew, if they even cared. I was wrong. These three directories consistently are among our most visited pages on nitesh_non.rodpub.com. Our readers return to them frequently to find new customers or suppliers (depending on where they are in the supply chain) or even to get a sense of where companies making these products are located. After realizing how popular these directories are, those of us at Nonwovens Industry decided to make them better. During the past two months, associate editor Tara Olivo and I have spent hours researching the companies listed in these directories to make sure they are still making hygiene products and looking for new companies to add to make the directory as comprehensive as possible. The next step was to bring the directory online, creating a searchable database of hygiene companies and brands on our website, allowing visitors to search for companies by brand, country and product type. The searchable database includes more than 60 global companies and 200 hygiene brands spanning the baby diaper, adult incontinence and feminine hygiene markets. These numbers are increasing daily as we continue to find new companies and brands to incorporate into the database. On a side note, I have been amazed at the number of hygiene companies, located around the world, that were not previously on our radar. It shows how healthy the global hygiene market is that so many small companies are trying their hands at it in new markets. We hope to continue to make this directory, which can be found right on our homepage or accessed directly at http://nitesh_non.rodpub.com/brands-hygiene-directory/, as accurate and comprehensive as possible. If you think your company should be included, please contact us at the email below. As always, we appreciate your comments Karen McIntyre Editor [email protected]
